This is not a balanced meal. Where are the veggies and the fish and fries are fried making for high calories.

And here is the answer to yesterday’s quizz. Some of you were close, some of you were way too low in their estimation.

The plate posted yesterday is over 1,000 calories – with too large a portion of fries – at least 500 calories – and 6oz of fried fish -another 500-600 calories if not more. Most importantly this plate had other issues:

      1. It is too high in fat because of the fries and the fried fish. Together, if I am right with portion evaluation, they contain almost 55g of fat or +/-500 calories or 50% of the plate total calories! It is recommended not to exceed 20% of your caloric intake with fat per day. And I am not even talking about good fat versus bad fat. This is for another time.
      2. There are no fresh vegetables! It is recommended to have at least half of your plate covered with vegetables, and fries do not count as vegetables! Fries as carbohydrates should represent maximum 25% of your plate.
      3. The fish portion is too big. Half of it should suffice.
